Gabriella goes gold

THERE was something sweet about teenage sensation Gabriella Cilmi and her sassy vocals - now her glucose gleam is dripping with gold.
Just 16 years old, Cilmi yesterday continued her rocking run of international success after her album Lessons to be Learned achieved gold status - 100,000 copies - in the UK. Currently headlining her first sold-out mini tour in Britain, the only lesson to be learned for the ecstatic singer yesterday was how to articulate her excitement. "The guy on Capital Radio London who surprised me on air with this incredible news said Ishould always say it hasn't really sunk in yet," Cilmi said yesterday. "I know that is such a used one liner but he is right ... I am so excited but really can't believe it has happened ... maybe Iwill in a few days." Lessons to Be Learned also attained gold status in Australia last week, while Cilmi held the top spot on the ARIA singles chart for the third consecutive week with her catchy pop track Sweet About Me. With the song now No.7 on iTunes in Switzerland, No.8 in Portugal and No.4 in England, half the world now knows exactly how sweet her dulcet tones are. But it's Cilmi's wardrobe that is about to get a whole lot sweeterstill, thanks to Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. The brunette beauty will head to the Italian capital of Milan to perform a showcase next week, and has been invited to enjoy a shopping spree at Dolce & Gabbana's international showroom headquarters.
